Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a good tip?
A good tip will be specific and contain detailed information that a reporter would need to report the story. Tell us the who, what, where, when and why — and then, if possible, prove it with documented evidence. The more detailed, the better equipped our reporters will be to write the story.
Will my personal information be used?
We have access to the information you provide. In our “General” tip form, your personal information is not automatically collected, so if you want us to reach out to you directly, please provide us a way to contact you. In our “Secure” methods to submit a tip, we only have access to the information you provide.
What happens after you submit your tip?
After you submit, our editors will decide whether to pursue it as a story. If selected, a reporter will write the story based on the information provided and additional reporting using other sources. If you provide your contact information, a reporter may reach out to you.
