Entry of the Week: Saturday, Sept. 6, 8:47 p.m.
A Northeastern student reported being robbed of $15 on Camden Street by a playground entrance. The suspect was carrying a blue stick and threatened the student with it if he did not comply. Officers responded, and the sergeant reported speaking with a party unaffiliated with the university, who stated that he was smoking marijuana with the suspect on the park bench minutes before the robbery took place. He further informed police that the suspect fled over the Camden Street footbridge, but officers checked the area with negative results. The stick was later located and brought in as evidence in the case. NUPD filed a report, and BPD assumed jurisdiction.
Monday, Sept. 1
A student’s apartment in West Village H was robbed of $900 worth of equipment, speakers, and a PS4 between 9 p.m. the previous night and 5 p.m. that day.
10:04 p.m.
Officers stopped two underage students on Symphony Road carrying a 30 pack of Miller High Life, a six pack of Harpoon IPA and a large bottle of whiskey. Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) officers confiscated the alcohol, filed a report and referred the students to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
Tuesday, Sept. 2
1:59 a.m.
An officer found an intoxicated Northeastern male in the upper busway of Ruggles Station conscious but not alert. EMS responded and transported the student to Beth Israel Hospital.
11:14 a.m.
A Northeastern student reported that his bicycle seat was stolen while chained to the bike racks at International Village. He had chained his bike on Monday at 3:30 p.m. and when he returned at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the bike was gone. NUPD filed a report.
3:09 p.m.
A student reported to NUPD headquarters that her black Trex mountain bike with blue stripes was stolen from the racks in front of West Village G between Aug. 31 at 6:00 p.m. and Sept. 1 at 4:30 p.m.; NUPD filed a report.
3:16 p.m.
Boston Police Department (BPD) sent out an alert warning students of a group of males shooting a firearm out of the window of a car on Parker Street. NUPD pursued the subjects from Hemenway Avenue to the Riverway, then from Westland Avenue back towards Massachusetts Avenue. BPD stopped the vehicle and suspects on Gainsborough Street and St. Botolph Street. Three people were placed under arrest at 3:19 p.m., and one handgun was recovered. NUPD and BPD checked the surrounding areas for additional weapons but did not recover any. NUPD issued an advisory to the school community, and BPD assumed jurisdiction.
Wednesday, Sept. 3
7:06 a.m.
A Northeastern staff member reported a room within his office in Mugar Hall was broken into between Sept. 2 at 6:00 p.m. and the time of the report. The crime scene was processed, and a report was filed.
3:32 p.m.
A service desk analyst at NU notified NUPD headquarters that a projector was stolen from a room in Richards Hall over the past two days. An officer plans to meet the analyst in his office about the incident. A report was filed.
3:35 p.m.
An NU student walked into headquarters and reported that his wallet had been stolen from a classroom in Ryder Hall after being left unattended for one hour. A report was filed.
4:42 p.m.
A staff member contacted NUPD to report that her wallet had been stolen from her office after a graduate student working there let an unknown male, enter the office area. He left before the staff member returned and discovered her wallet missing. A report was filed.
5:24 p.m.
A student reported her roommate was smoking marijuana. Officers responded and spoke with both students in the hallway before being let in by the reported offender. The subject admitted to smoking marijuana with her two friends. The drugs (less than one ounce) and paraphernalia were later confiscated. A report was filed and action was referred to OSCCR.
7:35 p.m.
A male reported that his light gray BMW bicycle worth $1,500 was stolen from Huntington Avenue between 7:00 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., though the bike had been secured with a Master U lock. A report was filed.
7:49 p.m.
An officer reported discovering new graffiti on the Marberry Terrace warehouse doors during his patrol. Facilities was advised, and a report was filed.
11:04 p.m.
An NU student reported that he was robbed of his iPhone 5 on the Ruggles upper busway by a suspect who stated he was carrying a gun but did not display it. The suspect then walked away toward Tremont Street. Transit police were advised and responded, but officers searched the surrounding areas with no results. The student was not injured during the events, and Transit Police assumed jurisdiction.
Thursday, Sept.4
4:52 a.m.
NUPD, BPD and the state police responded to Wentworth Police’s call for assistance in front of 578 Huntington Ave., where a female Northeastern student was assaulted. BPD reported that the student was walking on the street when a male grabbed her neck from behind and attempted to drag her into an alleyway. The student’s screaming alerted nearby security, who responded and chased the subject away. BPD had already escorted the student to her on-campus residence when NUPD arrived. BPD assumed jurisdiction and the events are under investigation. NUPD filed a report and issued a safety advisory.
3:02 p.m.
A student walked into headquarters to retrieve his ID card and reported that the move-in bin he had been using was stolen on Sunday, Aug. 31. A report was filed.
4:11 p.m.
A student contacted NUPD to report his wallet stolen from Kennedy Hall after being left unattended on Sunday, Aug. 31. He discovered it missing on Sept. 4. A report was filed.
9:00 p.m.
Two NU students walked into headquarters to report that they had been robbed 15 minutes prior by a male subject who motioned he had a gun but did not display a weapon. The robbery took place off campus by the tennis courts near Albert Street. The subject then walked away towards Tremont Street. BPD was advised, and NU officers searched the area with negative results. State police and detectives also responded to speak with the victims. The first student was robbed of a black leather trifold wallet and an iPhone 4 with no tracking software activated. The second student was not robbed of any personal possessions during the incident. The suspect description matches that of the previous robbery in the upper busway of Ruggles on Sept. 3. NUPD determined no threat to campus based on this event and filed a report and is investigating with BPD and state police.
Friday, Sept. 5
9:38 a.m.
A Northeastern grad student called to report he had left his silver Dell laptop in a room in Forsyth Building the previous night and had called the lost and found with no results. Officers filed a report.
10:55 a.m.
An NU student reported her black Specialized mountain bike with in white writing was taken from Snell Library bike racks where she had secured it two weeks ago with a U-lock. NUPD filed a report.
12:30 p.m.
A student walked into the NUPD station to report that while walking down Huntington Avenue between Speare Hall and Symphony Market, a pickpocketer reached into her purse and stole her Google Nexus phone. She did not see the party when they stole the phone between approximately 11:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. When she called the cell phone, a male party answered and then hung up. A report was filed.
1:53 p.m.
An NU student reported his black and orange Denali GM bicycle stolen from the front bike rack of West Village H within the past day. A report was filed.
9:39 p.m.
An RA called operations to report that someone had written offensive graffiti on some of the door tags in Kennedy Hall. A report was filed.
Saturday, Sept. 6
12:21 a.m.
Officers report stopping two Northeastern students across from 140 The Fenway. The minors were in possession of alcohol and were sent on their way to be summoned at a later time.
12:56 a.m.
An officer reported checking on a group in front of Chicken Lou’s with an open container. The student was of legal drinking age, and officers collected his information before sending him on his way.
Sunday, Sept. 7
12:29 a.m.
An RA reported seeing a student vomit in the hall and then walk into his dorm room. Officers responded and spoke to the student, who was under 21 and intoxicated, but did not require further assistance. A report was filed.
12:36 a.m.
Officers responded to 780 Columbus Ave with the report of an extremely intoxicated student. Officers requested EMS for further evaluation. While waiting for them to arrive, the student’s roommate arrived, also extremely intoxicated, and both individuals were under 21 with fake IDs. EMS arrived at 1:11 a.m., but both students declined medical attention and signed medical waivers. A report was filed.
1:16 a.m.
A student vomiting in the lobby of Stetson West was reported. The student, under 21, declined further medical attention and signed a medical waiver. A report was filed.
8:29 p.m.
An officer observed a female student at Camden and Tremont Streets chasing a group of teenagers on bicycles. The female stated that her phone had been stolen by one of the group while she was on Massachusetts Avenue. The officer pursued the group on his bike and stopped all six subjects. One was injured at Tremont Street and Melnea Cass Boulevard. Boston EMS was advised and transported the suspect to the Boston Medical Center. Boston Police brought the victim to the site of the stop, but she could not identify the suspects. Her phone was recovered. During pursuit the suspect drove his bike into a responding officer’s vehicle. All suspects were not affiliated with the university, and their information was collected.
