Thursday, March 29 – Lecture and pop-up exhibit at the Boston Public Library

As part of the Lowell Lecture Series that brings social justice activists and speakers to the Boston Public Library, Terry Tempest Williams will be speaking about the relationship between humans and the natural world. Williams, an environmental author and advocate, has published several books, her most recent one about the National Park system. There will also be a coinciding pop-up exhibit with a display inspired by the mason spider, the only mound-building arachnid discovered on public land. The lecture and exhibit aims to leave visitors thinking about how important conservation and public lands are to our society. 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.; Rabb Hall, Boston Public Library; Free.

Friday, March 30 – NEC lunchtime concert

Listen to soprano Erica Petrocelli fill the historic Old South Meeting House with her “robust singing” at this free concert. Petrocelli is currently pursuing the prestigious Artist’s Diploma at the New England Conservatory for Opera, where she also also received a master’s degree in vocal performance. She has been in many titular roles for the Boston Midsummer Opera, along with other companies both in the area and across the country. 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.; Old South Meeting House; Free.

Saturday, March 31 – NU UTSAV’s “Keeping Up With the Kapoors”

In Nataraj, UTSAV’s annual culture show, the South Asian community at Northeastern will be exploring the different aspects of South Asian culture through the lens of reality TV’s favorite sisters. It’ll be a night of singing, dancing, acting and more with a wide range of acts from a capella to Bollywood performances. Stick around after the show for a complimentary catered dinner at the reception. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  6 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Blackman Auditorium; Free.

Sunday, April 1 – “Lady Bird” screening

Round out your weekend with a movie night at AfterHours featuring Greta Gerwig’s Oscar-nominated gem of a film, “Lady Bird.” The movie is set in Sacramento, and it follows the namesake character’s journey through her senior year of high school and the relationships that define who she is. With its extremely well-rounded characters and relatable plot, “Lady Bird” is a must-see, if only for the sharp and witty presence of Saoirse Ronan’s Ladybird. Monday, April 2 – A Conversation with Ally Brooke

Called “Sunshine” by her fans, Ally Brooke of Fifth Harmony will be on campus for a talk hosted by the Council for University Programs. The Texas native is the powerhouse voice of the girl group that rose to international fame after finishing third on “The X Factor,” and she recently released a solo track in late January. Brooke will be sharing her personal story and journey to success as a Latina in the music industry with members of the Northeastern community. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. 7 – 9 p.m.; Blackman Auditorium; Free.

Tuesday, April 3 – First 100 Words in Hindi

Do you want to learn a new language but just don’t have the time? Although you probably won’t walk away being able to speak Hindi, professor Shiti Malhotra will be giving a crash course on her dialect of Hindi and you might just pick up a few words. The event is hosted by the NU Linguistics Club, and pizza will be provided. 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.; 544 Nightingale Hall; Free.

Wednesday, April 4 – Alice Wetterlund and Jon Rudnitsky

Join these two actor-comedians for a night of laughter and insight, hosted by fellow comedian Jake Nordwind. Alice Wetterlund is known for her role of Carla Walton on the HBO sitcom “Silicon Valley,” and performs regularly at San Francisco’s Punchline Comedy Club as well as at other venues and festivals across the country. Fans of “Saturday Night Live” may be familiar with Jon Rudnitsky, who joined the cast from 2015 to 2016 for its 41st season. Rudnitsky was also in the 2017 movie “Home Again,” playing one of three guys who moves into the guest house of a newly single mom played by Reese Witherspoon.
