Northeastern men’s basketball team (11-9, 3-4) CAA broke their two-game losing streak Jan. 23, beating the Drexel Dragons (11-9, 3-4 CAA) 70-61 in their first home game since Jan. 4.
The Huskies were dominant in their three-pointers in the first half, collecting four out of their five attempts.
Sophomore guard JB Frankel and junior guard Rashad King tied with the most points of the game at 19, marking Frankel’s career high.
The Huskies also outperformed the Dragons in steals and blocks. King took the most steals of the game at three, and the team together was 11 to the Dragons’ combined four. In terms of blocks, Northeastern collected six to Drexel’s two.
Although the scoreboard did flip four times, the Huskies were able to push through, giving them the end result they have been searching for in the last two games.
Northeastern did not have successful free-throws in the first half but were able to fix them up a little bit in the second.
In the first half, the Huskies made none of their four attempted free-throws. Meanwhile, in the second, they earned 12 of their 20 attempts.
Frankel notched both of his free-throws and King made all but one. However, junior forward Youri Fritz, junior center Collin Metcalf and graduate student forward Alexander Nwagha all made one of their three or more free-throw attempts.
Fritz reached his career high in points and field goals at 13 and six, respectively. The Huskies will have a tough battle against the Towson Tigers (11-9, 6-1 CAA) at home Jan. 27 at 9 p.m.
