The game against Stony Brook kicked off with three minutes of no scoring for either team until the streak was finally broken with a jumper from Stony Brook. The Huskies appeared undisciplined leading to eight turnovers compared to Stony Brook’s two. With the Seawolves already up 14-5 by the end of the first quarter, the Huskies needed to improve to remain in the game.
In the second quarter, Northeastern came out playing far better, and shots began to fall. Their field goal percentage improved from 18% in the first quarter to 45% in the second. Conversely, Stony Brook’s field goal percentage fell from 46.15% to 33.33%. This rise and fall for both teams’ shooting gave Northeastern the advantage and allowed it to outscore the Seawolves 14-11 in the quarter.
With the score 25-19 moving into the second half, the game was still in reach for the Huskies.
Northeastern managed to cut Stony Brook’s lead down to one in the beginning of the quarter. Unfortunately, the familiar shooting woes of the Huskies struck again as the Seawolves were on fire. The Seawolves’ shooting percentage rose to 60% in the quarter, while Northeastern’s fell to 38%.

The Huskies managed to go point-for-point with the Seawolves, but it was too late to reverse the earlier damage. The Huskies lost to the Seawolves 62-46.
Unfortunately for the Huskies, their second game of their road trip against the Monmouth Hawks Jan. 26 ended very similarly to the first.
Monmouth managed to score 30 bench points with 13 players cycling in for them, compared to Northeastern’s eight player bench, including graduate student guard and previous starter Bailey Williams, who only played six minutes during her first game back since Jan. 5.
Redshirt sophomore guard Abby Jegede was the star for the Huskies, scoring 19 points and going 7-8 from the free throw line.
