Northeastern track and field had a successful weekend at the Harvard Crimson Elite Feb. 7 and 8 and the Scarlet & White Invitational Feb. 8. Across the two meets, three Huskies broke school records and 11 set new personal bests.
At the Harvard Crimson Elite, senior Paul Wisnaskas and freshman Casey Rockett competed in the men’s heptathlon. The heptathlon consisted of the 60-meter dash, 1,000-meter race, 60-meter hurdles, shot put, high jump, pole vault and long jump. Wisnaskas placed seventh with 4,674 points, and claimed new personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles and pole vault, coming in eighth and second, respectively. This performance landed Wisnaskas in fourth on the All-Time Performance List. Rockett totaled 3,340 points across the seven events, with his best event being the 1000-meter.
In the 60-meter hurdles, graduate student Savion Thompson ran an 8.05-second race to come seventh on the All-Time Performance List.
At the Scarlet & White Invitational, graduate student Tristen Howard kicked off the competition with a 6.72-second finish in the 60-meter, placing him third on the All-Time Performance List.
Sophomore Thomas Landry followed Howard with a 6.98-second race to finish fourth overall.
In the women’s 800-meter, senior Nicole Dunbury set a new school record and personal best of 2:08.04 minutes, finishing 14th. Graduate student Ava Duggan was the next to finish for Northeastern, claiming 23rd with a 2:11.38-minute race, and sophomore Maddy Morgado set a new personal best of 2:27.13 minutes in the event.
Graduate student Tyler Brogan led all Huskies in the men’s 800-meter, clocking in at 1:51.84 to take 23rd. Junior Conall Rogers and freshman Cian Gara followed Brogan at 1:52.77 and 1:53.12, respectively, both setting new personal bests.
In the 400-meter open, freshman Zaida De Pina earned a top-15 finish with a 59.38-second run. In the 400-meter invite, junior Ariann Robinson claimed 17th with a time of 56.68 seconds.
Sophomore Savannah Blair claimed her second school record of the indoor season with a 23.83-second, first-place finish in the women’s 200-meter race. She broke the previous record by a tenth of a second.
Landry also added a new personal best in the men’s 200-meter invite, sprinting into fifth place with a time of 21.34 seconds. This race earned him fifth on the All-Time Performance List. In the 200-meter open, sophomore Vance Thorpe took third with a new personal best of 22.07 seconds.
In the women’s 1,000-meter, senior Lauren Trejo led the Huskies with a time of 2:57.24 minutes to finish 11th. Senior Shannon Trevor followed Trejo in 19th, setting a new personal best of 2:59.95 minutes. Graduate student Lena Lebrun then concluded the track events for Northeastern with a 9:53.83-minute finish to come 21st in the women’s 3,000-meter — the sixth-fastest time on the All-Time Performance List.
Sophomores Ohan Ambartsoumian and Mark Etienvre both claimed top-ten finishes in the men’s shot put, with a 15.40-meter throw to take third, and a 14.64-meter throw to take seventh, respectively. In the weight throw, senior Tremaine Robinson clinched seventh on the All-Time Performance List with a 19.13-meter throw.
Sophomore Ian Solberg followed up with a leap of 5.90 meters in the men’s long jump, and sophomore Hannah Shaw took second in the women’s pole vault with a 3.45-meter vault. Sophomore Cassandra Cinzori trailed Shaw in sixth with a 3.30-meter vault. In the men’s pole vault, junior Max Zuckerman took seventh at 4.40 meters, and junior Kevin Xu earned ninth at 3.95 meters.
Sophomore Camryn Cole cleared the bar at 1.80 meters in the women’s high jump, setting a new school indoor program record in the event. This record was the third of the day, and it earned Cole CAA Co-Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Cole also launched 5.74 meters in the long jump, coming in at ninth on the All-Time Performance List.
Sophomore Aidan Moreau finished eighth in the men’s weight throw with a 15.41-meter toss, and freshman Zackery DelSasso followed in ninth with a new personal best of 14.72 meters.
In the women’s shot put, graduate student Madeleine DuChaussee claimed seventh with a 12.21-meter throw. Finally, junior Jordan Spencer leaped 13.83 meters in the men’s triple jump to cap off the field events.
The Huskies will finish off their indoor season competing in the Valentine Invitational Feb. 14-15 at the BU Track and Tennis Center, the Boston College Eagle Elite Invitational Feb. 14 at the The Track at New Balance, and the MIT Gordon Invite Feb. 15 at the MIT Johnson Athletics Center.
