It was the final game of the regular season and a must-win, putting the Huskies at .500 in their league results over the season.
The first half saw the Huskies somewhat outplayed by the Tribe. Even after an impressive effort from junior guard Rashad King, who scored 13 points in the half, the Huskies went into the break 10 points down at 41-31. King’s record in the first period was only bettered by William & Mary’s senior forward Caleb Dorsey.
The Huskies showed no signs of giving up, improving their shooting from 36% to 43% in the second half. Junior guard Harold Woods was particularly active in the final half, with 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals for a season high of five steals throughout the game.
The Huskies took the lead for the first time in the game with a layup from junior forward Youri Fritz with eight minutes to go in the second half. It was Fritz’s second game back from an injury.
The Tribe retook the lead before a back and forth saw the teams tied at 68 apiece. With four seconds to go until the final buzzer, King made his final shot of the game to seal the victory for the Huskies.
With his 22 points and six assists in the game, King became the sixth Husky to score 500 points and reach 100 assists in a season since 2000.
Freshman guard Luca Soroa returned to action after his last appearance against Stony Brook with two points by a dunk and had a career high of five steals. Sophomore guard JB Frankel scored 14 points, in his 11th double-digit game of the season.
