The Student Activities banquet to be held Wednesday night in the Curry Student Center should prove to be an exciting wrap up of this year’s accomplishments and a great celebration of the fine student leaders currently in place.
The event is also a great chance for students to become familiar with their peers in leadership positions who do their best to represent the student body.
The recent news that NU has already met five of the eight goals listed in The University Action Assessment Plan — a plan which listed goals in enrollment criteria to be met by 2008 — is encouraging to hear, as it means that student leadership is taking a giant step up.
As the freshman enrollment class becomes stronger each year, with higher SAT scores and higher class standings, it will become apparent in these leadership roles that apathy is being washed out.
