Crime Log: May 20-June 4

June 7, 2012
A student reported that three males wearing scarves and masks on their faces were trying to break into Chicken Lou’s. The student stated that one man was tugging on the front door while the other two were hiding around the building. An officer stopped the three Northeastern students, who said that they were playing a prank on a friend and did not realize their behavior was suspicious. The male who was tugging on the door to the building was trying to find a place to hide in order to scare the friend. The students were given a warning.

May 24, 2012
The manager of 97 St. Stephen St. reported a large snake inside an aquarium in the basement. An officer responded and confirmed that a two-and-a-half-foot long, one-inch thick, brown, black and tan snake was inside a small aquarium covered with a board and a brick. Animal control was contacted and took possession of the snake.

May 9, 2012
A U.S. Postal Service inspector mailed a student’s wallet to NUPD. The Postal Service attempted to return the wallet to the address listed on his Rhode Island driver’s license, but the address turned out to be that of a business, and the license was determined to be fake. The wallet also contained the student’s under-21 Massachusetts driver’s license. The fake ID was confiscated and the student was reported to OSCCR.

April 19, 2012
A proctor at 10 Coventry reported a drunk man on the corner of Burke Street and Columbus Avenue. Officers found the man, an 18-year-old who was admitted as a freshman for fall 2012, was intoxicated, vomiting and shoeless. He was transported by ambulance to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. OSCCR and the Admissions office will be involved in a follow-up investigation.

April 5, 2012
A student reported a woman punched her in the face inside Conor Larkin’s Grill and Tap on Huntington Avenue. NUPD officers responded, and found the student with a bloody nose. She declined medical attention, and the woman who hit her had left the area. BPD assumed jurisdiction.

March 29, 2012
A student reported her laundry was stolen from the laundry room on the 22nd floor of International Village (INV). She left her laundry at 2 p.m. on March 20 and when she returned at 7 p.m. on March 22, it was gone.

March 22, 2012
NUPD officers saw a large party on the roof of 74 Symphony Rd. NUPD and BPD gained entry to the building and broke up the party. Officers found 25 Northeastern students, most of whom were underage, at the party. Officers confiscated 30 beers, a backpack filled with assorted liquors and a small amount of marijuana. The students will be reported to OSCCR.

ENTRY OF THE WEEK 12:30 a.m. Students on the first floor of Stetson East reported their 19-year-old friend, also a student, had been vomiting for a few hours. The student told EMTs he hit his head on the floor several hours earlier and said he has had several concussions in the past in which vomiting was a side effect. He also said he drank half a bottle of vodka earlier that day. He was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by ambulance and will be reported to OSCCR.

March 1, 2012
An RA in Melvin Hall reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from a first floor room. An NUPD officer and the RA found two residents, along with a water pipe, two vaporizers, a few glass pipes, a scale, a small amount of marijuana, a sword, some martial arts tools and a fan in the window. All of the items were confiscated, and the two students have been reported to OSCCR.

Crime Log: Feb. 15-Feb. 21

February 23, 2012
Callers reported a large, loud party in an apartment on Tremont Street across from the 10 Coventry St. residence hall. NUPD officers found more than 50 underage people, almost all Northeastern students, in the apartment where alcohol was being served. The tub was being used as a toilet and nobody claimed to live there. Two hours later, officers found a 20-year-old student who lives in the apartment and admitted to hosting the party. He will be reported to OSCCR and NUPD officers are still investigating the case.

February 16, 2012
Entry of the week: A cab driver reported he picked up an intoxicated 20-year-old student who got sick in the cab and lost consciousness when dropped off on Gainsborough Street. NUPD officers found the student unconscious and covered in vomit and on the sidewalk with no shoes and no purse. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and reported to OSCCR.

Crime Log: Jan. 31-Feb. 6

February 9, 2012
Thursday, Feb. 2. 12:45 a.m. A staff member at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center called to report an 18-year-old student who was brought in for alcohol poisoning had walked out. NUPD officers went to the student’s residence hall where they found the same student who was unconscious in the cab at 11 p.m. They determined she was well enough to stay home and she will be reported to OSCCR.
