The upstate New York music festival Mountain Jam isn’t exactly Woodstock — but it’s getting close.
Just a few miles away from the location of Woodstock, the quintessential music festival, Mountain Jam carried an eerily similar vibe from June 4 to 6. Now in its sixth year, the music festival made leaps and bounds with its jam-band heavy, hipster-friendly lineup. And while the festival doesn’t have the name recognition of some of its contemporaries, it's still a major draw, and many made the trip to attend the three-day event.

Coming off a successful first entry in a comic film franchise, "Iron Man 2" had high expectations to live up to. So high, perhaps, that the film folds a bit under the pressure. While it delivers a sickly sweet flick reminiscent of the first, the movie fails to leave the same long-lasting impression as its predecessor.
“Concert” seems somewhat an insufficient word for what Icelandic post-rock singer Jónsi offered ticket holders at the House of Blues May 5. It was, to say the least, an experience, riveting not only to the ears but also to the eyes and, (dare I say it?) the very soul. Jónsi (pronounced Yon-see), whose real name is Jónsi Thór Birgisson, is perhaps better known as the lead singer of the band Sigur Rós. However, the band has recently announced that it would go on an indefinite hiatus.

As musical director for the Nor’easters, Shams Ahmed helped guide the a capella group through their most successful year to date. The group placed second at the Northeast quarterfinals for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) at Boston University in February and continued onto semifinals at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in March, where they were ranked fourth out of eight groups.
