The Huskies returned to a packed Matthews crowd to host St. Cloud State, the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. St. Cloud defeated NU’s local rival Boston College 7-0 Thursday night on their home turf.

The Huskies could not make it back-to-back wins on Saturday, as they lost 2-1 to the College of Charleston Cougars (4-8-2, 1-4-1 CAA) in South Carolina. Despite an early goal from first-year forward/midfielder Ryan Massoud, the Cougars scored two goals within 30 seconds late in the game to complete the comeback and take all three points.

Fourth-year goalie Brittany Bugalski put up another strong performance between the pipes after posting a 39-save gem against Colgate. Her shutout was intact midway through the third period. With about six minutes to go in the game, UNH got on the board after forward Taylor Wenczkowski beat Bugalski with a low shot.

Rookie gets early CAA recognition

Almost as abruptly as Boyd’s volleyball career began, it seemed to end. In eighth grade, Boyd had a bout of mono, putting her in the hospital for two months. While her friends participated in end-of-middle-school festivities, half of Boyd’s hair fell out and she lost 40 pounds. Having led an active life, she said it was devastating to spend six months on bedrest.
