Six different Huskies scored in the team’s 8-1 bulldozing of Hofstra. The eight goals set a record for the most scored in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference play in program history, while the seven-goal deficit in the CAA game ties the team’s 2006 record.
“We all know it has been a very difficult season,” head coach Chris Gbandi said. “But I think one win can change all that. You get a win in conference and all of a sudden morale is very high. We still have a chance to make it into the conference tournament, and right now that is our goal.”
Prior to the game, the Huskies anticipated a high level of intensity, as it was the second game of a home-and-home series against their Hockey East foe and school rival. The game followed a theme of resiliency and firsts for NU, as four different players recorded either their first goals of the season or the first of their careers.

The Huskies’ new class of swimmers and divers lived up to their hype and performed well. First-years Klara Juliusson and Sabrina Chan each made meaningful contributions to the Huskies’ winning cause, with breaststroker Juliusson winning five events and Chan finishing second in three meter diving with a score of 247.05.
“One of the things we preach is the fitness piece, and we came in during preseason in decent fitness,” Gbandi said. “I think the guys seem to be fine, we always push the pace during overtime. Usually with overtime games, a lot of times the guys are fading a little bit but we haven’t seen that.”
