“I’m disappointed with our effort,” said Jim Madigan, Fernie Flaman Men’s Hockey head coach. “In this league, you can’t play well for one period and think you’re going to win a hockey game. We won one period and they won two periods, and they won the game.”

The Huskies reaffirmed last weekend’s road defeat of the Terriers, dominating their crosstown rivals Friday in front of a soldout Matthews Arena, including a Doghouse fan section that packed both sides of the balcony. The win came in spite of a starting lineup lacking injury-plagued seniors Dylan Sikura and Garret Cockerill. Junior forwards Adam Gaudette and Lincoln Griffin each had two goals in the 6-1 effort.

On Wednesday against Hofstra, the Huskies were able to put up two very competitive frames, but couldn’t pull ahead in either of them, losing again in straight sets. The Pride (17-12, 9-6 CAA) took a solid lead in the first, but the Huskies came back to even the score at 24. Hofstra’s front line took over at that point, landing two kills to end the set.

First-year forward Bobby Hampton got the Huskies on the board midway through the first period, scoring his second goal of the season off a pass from second-year forward Grant Jozefek. With 0.1 seconds remaining in the first period, fourth-year forward and captain Nolan Stevens snuck the puck under BU second-year goaltender Jake Oettinger, sending the Terriers stunned into intermission.
