Best for all budgets: A Boston restaurant guide

November 6, 2013
With Thanksgiving break just around the corner, the bustle of the holiday season is once again finally upon us. Whether you are jetsetting home for Veterans Day, or simply staying put in the city, Boston has more than its fair share of great restaurants to offer you a deliciously festive cuisine. Students are lucky enough to live in a city with all kinds of restaurants, including some world-class hangouts as well as affordable stops in areas of the city such as the narrow alleys of downtown, the bustling avenues of the Back Bay and the quirky neighborhoods of Fenway. From diners to donut shops, here is a fall guide to some of the city’s best restaurants and a few of my personal favorites which are sure to please just about everyone.

College fashionista: Ana Pascual-Leone, class of 2015 is a International Affairs major who caught my eye. Pants by Zara, Blouse by Club Monaco, bag by HoBo International and pumps by Steve Madden. Ana favored this outfit due to its simple comfort and sleek silhouette. A+mazing!

Fashion Column: The ‘meggings’ trend

October 17, 2013
Recent trends have introduced a re-vamp of 1970s styles including an array of neons, sheen, studded pieces, cut-off jeans, intricate eyewear and the ever questionable, megging. The man-legging? I questioned it myself. Being one who is fearless when it comes to my wardrobe (when I have the time) I decided to take a shot and dip into this new trend before it trickles down into some casual corner where someone will fish it out of a clearance bin. My end result was mainly positive; if designed properly, the potential market could be huge. One thing that all men need is space, as in pockets and room for … well … you get the point. No one enjoys being in any sort of pain when it comes to clothing, especially guys.

DIY fashion classes to keep your summer stylish

April 18, 2013
Now that classes have come to an end, students remaining in Boston for the summer have a little more time in their schedules to finally become the expert DIY-ers our Pinterests claim we are. For those days when you need to escape the summer’s heat and do something artistic, here are some great stores for do-it-yourself projects to get your creative fix for fashion.

Spring Breaking: Locally grown getaways

April 10, 2013
Fruit, ice cream and beer are essential warm weather refreshments. But fresh produce, homemade frozen treats and good microbrews can be difficult to come by in the city. Luckily, you can find them with the help of another springtime essential – road trips (some are also accessible via commuter rail). Rent a cheap car on campus, through Hertz Rentals or Zip Car located in the North Lot, grab a couple friends and make a day trip of visiting one of these specialty food hotspots.

Food misjudgments: Not as bad as you think

April 4, 2013
In the world of nutrition, certain foods are mercilessly discriminated against. For the health-conscious, there have always been certain treats that are either completely off-limits or reserved for only the most special of occasions. However, recent research has debunked food myths, and actually proven that some seemingly unhealthy delicacies can be beneficial.

Relationship Column: The spark that leads to fire

April 4, 2013
“He’s Just Not That Into You” is a book/movie that is basically a 12-step-program for girls who thrive off of not getting responses via text and who can’t tear themselves away from the “like” button on Facebook. And because women still seem to crave complete ambivalence and disrespect from guys – I mean, who doesn’t – we needed to have a movie made about it too! At 21, I clearly don’t need this romantic intervention, but my 17-year-old self was not as fortunate – which explains why I’ve seen the movie about 20 times. (In my defense, it was always on HBO and Bradley Cooper is hot.)
