There are plenty of things to do on Friday nights in Boston. Dozens of clubs are up and down Landsdowne Street and there are even more scattered throughout the Theater District. There is also always a new act playing at one of the local club venues and critically acclaimed plays like “Movin’ Out” and “Les Miserabes” are always on stage. But sometimes students want to relax, wind down and just watch a flick.
Loews Boston Common, AMC Fenway and Hoyts Copley Square are all in close proximity. It’s just a matter of gathering $1.25 for the T and riding a few stops to any one of these destinations.
However, 61 percent of those polled favor Loews Boston Common to the other two alternatives. With a marquee that resembles one that could be found in New York City and its convenient location across the street from the Boylston Street T stop, it’s no wonder students picked this theater as their favorite. In fact, not a single person voted in favor of Copley Square.
Quite frankly, it’s time the small theater that is in the Copley Square Mall become updated; not only does the theater not sell Junior Mints, but it also does not have stadium seating, which makes it hard to see for the vertically challenged.
Even though AMC Fenway does have stadium seating, you inconveniently have to switch from the E train to the D train to get there. There once was a time when the shuttle went to Simmons and you could catch a ride there, but that luxury no longer exists.
So when you’re looking for a place to watch the latest new release, according to Northeastern students, Loews Boston Common is the place to go.
