Fall can be too windy, winter can be too cold, summer can be too warm, but spring is the best season to be around. Students casted their votes and chose spring as the “Best Season” to be on campus.
What makes spring so special? Red Sox fans like the fact that the baseball season begins and a new battle between the Red Sox and the Yankees is looming in the future. Non-baseball aficionados like the fact that it is no longer winter.
“I like spring because it is the right weather, people come out, it’s not cold anymore, there are more gatherings and you can go shopping without being too cold or too hot,” said Nandy Rateau, a middler criminal justice major.
With days being longer, more activities take place not only in Boston but also on campus. The wiffle ball fields in front of Stetson Hall and Speare Hall host games throughout the day.
Frisbee throwing, roller blading and skate boarding are other activities taking place. There is more sunlight for two extra hours each day and more people go outside to eat, read or relax. Students enjoy life on campus not only because people are hanging outside but because Boston comes to life after the winter season.
“As the temperatures increase, the clothing decreases, so people spend more time outdoors and in the city,” said Giancarlo Iacomacci, a middler international business major.
The Museum of Fine Arts opens special galleries throughout the spring season, picnics are allowed in the Boston Common and Newbury Street packs up with shoppers.
People also prepare for summer. A staff member from the Marino Center said the gym becomes more crowded in the spring because students realize swimsuit season is approaching.
STA Travel agents also said the office is visited often by students who want to plan trips for the summer.
With finals approaching, as well as move-out dates, spring cleaning is done to decide what things to take home and what things to give away or store until September.
Spring is a sunny and rainy season that some students enjoy to the fullest before starting a summer job or summer semester. Pleasant weather is closer than ever, raising spirits and chasing those winter blues away.
