Avalon, located on Lansdowne Street, is like most clubs in that it offers an eclectic mix of music and people, as well as overpriced drinks and a night of dancing. One of the factors that makes it stand out from the rest and shine as the Best of NU’s “Best Club” is its live performances, like the April 13 performance by N.E.R.D. and the Black Eyed Peas. So, if you’re looking to go beyond a night of “bumping and grinding” under strobe lights, Avalon may be right for you.
The Roxy is another club Northeastern students like to frequent.
The Roxy specializes in hip-hop and R’B music on Friday nights and House on Saturdays. Despite its size and attractive set up, the Roxy has its fair share of downsides. The Roxy may be better known for its long lines and strict ID policies.
Axis, part of the same complex as Avalon, is another popular choice for North-eastern students. Axis, in contrast to the Roxy, plays more rock and alternative music than most clubs. Perhaps its most popular night is Monday, where Axis transforms into a gay club, offering a midnight drag show that everyone can enjoy. Monday’s cover charge is only $7 and is money well spent. However, Axis’ size may be what’s keeping it from being NU’s “best club” winner.
So if you’re looking for something that offers all the customary club elements and a little more, check out Avalon.
