The fall athletic season is in full swing in the land of the Huskies, albeit with varying degrees of success. I know it is easy to develop a sense of anxiety early in the year, as hype usually overrides logic around this time. Fear not, my youts … your boy E-Dot has all the answers for you. By simply looking beyond the stars (with the help of www.astroGraph.com) at several key contributors, one will discover the answers and probable outcomes to all things Husky.
Football Record: 1-1
Key Player: Cory Parks. Yes, we all know about the defense and the Freak (Liam Ezekiel) but with the departure of several key players on offense, Parks will be a huge part of the attack.
Birthday: June 22, 1984 – Cancer.
Astrological Analysis: “Cancerians are nurturing and protective of others … Your home is important to you … You are likely to be involved with the past in some way, because the sign of Cancer, the sign of nurturing, protecting, sustaining, is strongly tied to the past and the principle of Karma. As a Cancer person, you tend to collect the residue of past experience and hold onto it, as a coloration of present activities, leading you to instinctual action … You bring an acute and intuitive perception to bear on all that you encounter and almost nothing escapes your attention. You may be very sensitive to sense impressions either visual or auditory. You are also likely to be very curious about things you encounter. You are constantly asking questions to satisfy your restless quest for more and more information. You are in fact a perfect channel for ideas and information, and you have a natural ability to communicate your ideas to others.”
Probable Outcome: Expect big things from Parks when playing at Parsons Field this season. What he did the first week against Cheyney (four receptions, 125 yards, 2 TDs) is a good sign for a team that hasn’t lost a game at home since Oct. 13, 2001. He will take his game to the next level and become the premier receiver in the conference. His career-defining game will come Nov. 6 against the University of Massachusetts on Payback Saturday, when NU wins 21-17 to gain a three-way tie for the top spot in the A-10.
Men’s Soccer Record: 1-4
Key Player: Michael Cipriano. The team’s second leading scorer last year, he leads a struggling offense in scoring this year with two points.
Birthday: Feb. 19, 1982 – Aquarius.
Astrological Analysis: “You do better when your motivation is idealistic rather than for personal gain … you have a strong sense of optimism and possess high ideals, and you can also tend to be nervous, or high-strung, or inclined to reckless behavior … You have good judgment and a constant sense of what is important to you. Your focus is excellent, and you make a good worker because of it. You have an innate sense of who you are and where you want to be, and that is usually where you will be found.”
Probable Outcome: Cipriano will keep on shooting, and eventually the shots are going to go in. Will he match Atha Kirkopoulos’ production? It is possible … “Cip” is capable of getting hot, and the high-energy player can create offense in bunches. Will the team win as many games as last year? The early season schedule has been tough, but if the offense heats up and the defense is consistent, why not?
Women’s Soccer Record: 6-1-1
Key Player: Kristin Kowalik. Though much has been made of the exploits of a stingy defense, it is Kowalik that leads the team in scoring.
Birthday: April 3, 1981 – Aries.
Astrological Analysis: “[Aries] gives an independent and positive nature, outwardly directed and ambitious. You possess great strength of character as well as an inordinate degree of self-assertion. You are a formidable adversary reacting aggressively when threatened … You are also likely to have artistic inclinations. You are passionate and also restless in all forms of relationship, and you may be rather quick to take offense.”
Probable Outcome: The more Kowalik takes offense, the better off the Huskies will be. The defense has the look of a conference championship right now; a little offense could take the team over the top. Who better to provide that than last year’s rookie of the year, who also finished second in the regular season in scoring? With injuries to Liz Dyjak and Andi Matthews, this Swedish sensation can up the ante for a mid-October push.
Field Hockey Record: 7-2.
Key Player: Liane Dixon. After being named a second team National Field Hockey Coaches Association Northeastern Region All-American last season, Dixon has picked up right where she left off, taking two America East Player of the Week awards to start the season.
Birthday: June 28, 2004 – Cancer.
Astrological Analysis: “You are enthusiastic and determined, and you have a very strong will. You are likely to be enterprising and ambitious. You radiate an energy which stimulates others to be attracted to you.”
Probable Outcome: There’s no science to this one. The 5 foot 2 inch firecracker is on fire right now, and is a key contributor on one of the best field hockey teams in the nation. Dixon will keep on scoring, the Huskies will keep on winning and break their hex in the NCAA postseason.
Volleyball Record: 5-6.
Key Player: Whitney Turner. This double-double machine has been a force for the Huskies early in the season.
Birthday: July 3, 1985 – Cancer.
Astrological Analysis: “You feel deeply, and may have an almost psychic awareness of the feelings of others. You have strong desires, and are single-minded about pursuing them … There is a deepening or concentration of the feeling nature so that many and complex emotions are generated. You are secretive and shrewd … ”
Probable Outcome: Turner’s court awareness from the outside hitter spot has been outstanding as of late, and that energy will carry over to the rest of her teammates … if they allow it to do so. If the goals of the team and this standout do fall in line, it will be just in time for the conference tournament.
Cross Country Record: N/A.
Key Player: Tom Brown. He has been the team’s top finisher in two meets this season.
Birthday: Dec. 4, 1985 – Sagittarius.
Astrological Analysis: “Sagittarius is an optimistic, positive-thinking sign associated with the quest for freedom from all restriction, also idealism, religion and philosophy. Sagittarius people are direct and forthright, good-natured and optimistic. One always knows where one stands with you. You are honest and have a strong moral nature, yet you are also fun-loving and enjoy a good laugh, even at your own expense.”
Probable Outcome: Brown is off to a good start in his freshman campaign. This race is a strength of his, which allows him to maximize his potential each time out. He’ll have more good races than bad, and make his mark once the spring season gets underway.
You see, when you break it down scientifically, there really is no need to wonder. Do not, however, use this data for gambling purposes. First, it is illegal. Second, do you really want to trust me with your life savings? I think not.
