Like sunbathers stripping away their layers of clothing, the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) is stripping off its reputation for being just a building with art. It’s offering musical performances, cocktail hours and dining from June to August.
The mfasummerfridays started June 4 and will run until August 27. The program offers an evening of live music and mingling every Friday for patrons 21 and over. From 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., revelers gather in the Garden Court of the MFA to enjoy their cocktails and kick off the weekend. Admission is $13.
If a meal al fresco is reminiscent of a perfect summer, take advantage of the MFA’s BRAVO restaurant located on the second level of the West Wing Galleria. The view from the tables is the Calderwood Courtyard and on Wednesdays guests can listen to a live band playing below.
The concerts in Calderwood Courtyard begin June 23 and run to August 25. The music ranges from jazz, folk, bluegrass and world music, according to a release from the MFA.
“Visitors will be delighted by the quantity and diversity of the museum’s activities and will find a reason to be at the MFA every week this summer,” said Malcolm Rogers, Ann and Graham Gund Director of the MFA, in a release. “We look forward to welcoming visitors of all interests, from families and children, to film aficionados, music lovers and artists-in-the-making.”
