On behalf of the Public Safety Division and those whose property and quality of life were damaged, I want to express my appreciation to [the student that came forward with a video camera of the post-Super Bowl riots] for being so concerned and doing something about it, to Mike Romano and the leaders of the Student Government Association for acting so quickly to begin a campus-wide dialogue aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future and to the many students and others who helped us identify the people responsible for much of the damage and disorder. While Northeastern’s reputation may have been tarnished by these events, you represent the very best of what has made Northeastern the great university it is by realizing that Northeastern is a part of the neighborhood community, not apart from it.
