As puddles prevail in these early days of spring, I was pleasantly surprised by the simple and playful action of one genuine Northeastern student. The clouds had parted long enough to allow for a much anticipated stroll through the Fens last week. Coming across an enormous puddle, that extended into the street and what seemed like across the park, my friend and I stood bewildered and stranded. Sailing across the puddle were a random pair, she on his back and loaded with books and other precious cargo. He willingly triumphing over the silly mid-day obstacle. With a sarcastic shout, I found myself asking these strangers how much he would charge for a ride. Without hesitation this, dare I say good Samaritan, had scooped up my friend and was making his way to the other side of our kiddie-pool sized barrier. I was next in this anonymous act of chivalry (well, he was the only one with water-proof boots) and laughed with disbelief before, during and after this spectacle had taken place. Feet dry and socks unharmed due to the behavior of one Northeastern student, my friend and I giggled a simple thank you and were on our way.
