For a long time I used to think if I worked hard, stayed motivated and was a good student, that everything would work out. I believed that once I finally kicked the dirt of Collegetown off my shoes I’d find a job; and not just any job, a job I liked, loved even. Yet as the days to graduation have fallen into double, almost single digits, I’ve come to the realization that I’ve been wrong all along.
Four years, six internships and more than enough part-time jobs later I’m ready to don my cap and gown to enter the world of the unemployed. I’ve come to find that while I may have the experience and grades, it’s more difficult than ever to enter the work force as a recent grad and make a decent amount of money. This is especially true for those of us unwilling to settle for anything less than that while doing something a little more than mindless administrative tasks.
