They bring the school’s name onto nightly news programs, into other countries and into publications worldwide. Regardless of the issue they speak on or the topic they specialize in, one factor remains the same: their title always reads “Professor, Northeastern University.” Recently, News staff writer Lisa Kaczke spoke with four men who bring fame and national recognition to the school.
Jack Levin Jack Levin was on CNN this week – although that isn’t unusual for the school’s crime expert. In this CNN appearance, he was commenting on Scott Peterson’s marriage proposals. Last week, he was quoted in an Associated Press article on the mass murderer who goes by “BTK.” After the shootings in Red Lake, Minn. Monday, he was called in as an expert for Fox 25 news. And somehow between all these appearances, the Albert Einstein look-alike teaches classes at Northeastern.
“[The media] is part of my job now,” Levin said.
The professor in the Sociology and Anthropology Department is the author of 25 books. The side effect of doing research is the publicity it brings, he said.
“My two areas are murder, especially multiple murders, and hate crimes,” Levin said.
