A man who was struck by an Amtrak train near Ruggles Station Tuesday evening has died, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.
The MBTA has yet to identify the man.
Amtrak Northeast Regional train No. 174 from Richmond, Va., to South Station hit the man around 6:25 p.m. MBTA Transit Police are investigating the incident.
The train was carrying 85 passengers, none of whom were injured, Amtrak spokesman Steve Kulm said. The train stopped so the last car was still at the platform, Kulm said, so passengers could get off and board an MBTA train.
Two commuter rail tracks have reopened and limited service has resumed.
