Cafeteria workers to vote on union
Northeastern Chartwells employees will vote today to decide whether or not they will join the Local 26 union. Workers announced their intent to form a union March 14 in a rally, presenting the university administration with a petition signed by 293 employees – more than 72 percent of dining services workers at Northeastern. The workers held a speak out event in Behrakis on March 22, where hundreds of students came to listen to the problems workers face. The workers and Local 26 officials will count the votes tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Xhibition Kitchen at Stetson West.
