Tuesday, July 28 ‘ 5:30 p.m. Northeastern Division of Public Safety (NUPD)’ officers were called to a first-floor restroom in West Village G, where a 50-year-old homeless man was reported to be ill. He was identified as a frequent trespasser and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. NUPD officers issued him an all-campus trespass warning. ‘ Wednesday, July 29 ‘ 2:30 p.m. A student reported her cell phone had been taken from the second floor of the Marino Center while she was working out. She reported it went missing after she left it by an exercise machine she used around 8 a.m. on July 24. ‘ Thursday, July 30

9:30 p.m. A student reported his bicycle stolen outside of Robinson Hall. After he locked it there at 8 p.m. When he returned, the bike was gone and his cable lock had been cut and left behind.

‘ Friday, July 31 ‘ 9:30 a.m. NUPD officers responded to reports of a man panhandling in the Curry Student Center, near the second-floor ballroom. Officers found a default warrant for the man, Brutus Benson, 42, for a failure to appear in court regarding a previous arrest for assault and battery in Waltham. He was arrested and issued an all-campus trespass warning.

‘ 10:30 a.m. A faculty member reported being threatened by a colleague during a heated verbal argument over a shared laboratory space. Both faculty members were interviewed, as well as their associate dean, and NUPD referred them to the dean’s and provost’s offices to mediate. ‘ 2 p.m. A manager in Au Bon Pain saw a man stealing food from the cafe. The suspect, a 46-year-old male with no affiliation with the university, ran onto Huntington Avenue, where an NUPD officer who heard the manager yell after the suspect caught him. The suspect stole $25 worth of food from the eatery. All of it was recovered, unopened. The manager declined to press charges after retrieving the food. ‘ Saturday, August 1 ‘ 2 a.m. An officer saw three males, two 19-year-old students and a 20-year-old visitor unaffiliated with the university, sitting on a stoop outside an apartment building on Symphony Road. They appeared to be were smoking marijuana. As the officer approached, the men put out what they were smoking. Upon questioning, they admitted to using the drug. The two students have been referred to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR), and the remnants of the marijuana were’ destroyed. ‘ Sunday, August 2 ‘ 12:30 a.m. An anonymous caller reported a female passed out on Symphony Road. Officers responded and discovered a 21-year-old male student lying on the ground, unconscious. It was evident he had been sick and his friends, both 21-year-old students, were holding up his head. They said it was his 21st birthday and they had been drinking off campus. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and will be referred to OSCCR. ‘ Monday, August 3 ‘ 5:15 p.m. A 20-year-old student reported his cellphone missing from the Levine Marketplace July 31 at 10 a.m. He left it unattended and when he returned 15 minutes later, it was gone. ‘ Wednesday, August 5 ‘ 9:30 a.m. Contractors reported expensive tools were stolen from the basement of 116 St. Stephen St. while workers were on a coffee break. The building is currently uninhabited because of renovations. There is video surveillance of a suspect, believed to be a tradesman working on a nearby project. ‘ 1 p.m. NUPD officers responded to a report of three people smoking marijuana behind Shillman Hall. All three were teenagers who were part of a summer program staying on campus. While running the names of the individuals, one of them, a 15-year-old male, came back as wanted under Child in Need of Services, a law applying to juveniles that acts like a warrant for arresting the juvenile in question.The boy was taken into custody. The other two boys, ages 16 and 17, were referred to the director of the program. ‘ 8 p.m. An officer observed a man in the library viewing inappropriate video content. He had been legitimately signed into the library. Officers discovered the man, Angel Martinez, 39, was wanted on a default warrant in Lawrence for larceny. He is also known as Angel Cruz, and has arrest records under both names. He was arrested and given a trespass warning.’ ‘ Thursday, August 6 ‘ 10:30 a.m. A female staff member working in Holmes Hall left her office unattended for a few minutes and when she returned, saw a man leaving with her purse. She called out to the man, but he ran out of the building toward Ruggles station. NUPD officers were called and witnesses said a man matching his description had taken a bus. NUPD officers contacted the MBTA police, who stopped the bus five minutes later. However, the man had already gotten off at a previous stop. The victim said the suspect looked like a college-aged student. She had $150 and several credit cards in her purse. ‘ 4:30 p.m. A student reported she had been receiving harassing phone calls from a blocked number. She suspects it may be her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend. NUPD is working with the phone company to identify the caller. ‘ Friday, August 7 ‘ 12:30 a.m. An NUPD officer observed a man hiding in an alley behind the Huntington Avenue Burger King. The officer approached and questioned the man, who had drug paraphernalia and appeared as if he had just used or was about to use drugs. The officer discovered that he was wanted on a default warrant for drugs by the Boston Municipal Court. The man, Daniel Mayo, 46, of Boston, was arrested. ‘ 1 a.m. A graduate student reported he was attacked and robbed after leaving the Egan Research Center. He had decided to ride his bike home instead of taking the hourly escort van when three men pushed him to the ground and stole his bike, wallet and cell phone. Officers spotted the three men, who ran in different directions. The three, Aneudy Cabral and Fasuto Perez, both 18, and Perez’s 17-year-old brother, were all caught and charged with robbery and assault and battery. ‘ 9 a.m. The manager of Douglass Park apartment complex reported someone had vandalized the fifth floor emergency exit signs and the electrical wiring, resulting in a loss of power to the hallway. There is video footage from a security camera of the suspect, who had been at a party on the floor. The residents of the apartment identified him as their friend, a 20-year-old male student. He will be referred to OSCCR. ‘ 7:30 p.m. An officer witnessed two juveniles tampering with bikes and leaving with tires. He called to them and they ran off. The officer caught the boys, ages 17 and 18, who explained they thought the tires had been abandoned and had run because they were scared. Neither had a previous arrest record and both were cooperative with the officer. No victim has come forward and charges will not be filed. ‘ Saturday, August 8 ‘ 12 p.m. A 19-year-old male student reported his debit card stolen after he left it in the ATM on Forsyth Street behind the Cabot Canter. His bank reported another transaction had been made within two minutes of his, resulting in the withdrawal of $200. There is footage of the person who stole the money, and NUPD officers are looking at transactions made from that ATM and others nearby to find the suspect. ‘ Sunday, August 9 ‘ 3 a.m. Officers reported to the West Campus Quad where a 21-year-old student had been vomiting and was passed out. Two of his friends, also 21-year-old students, were supporting his head and said they were out celebrating his 21st birthday and he had been able to walk up to that point. He was taken by ambulance to Beth Israel’ Deaconess Medical Center’ and will be referred to OSCCR. ‘ 7 p.m. ‘ Officers witnessed a man graffiti-tagging a wall behind Coventry Residence Hall. He is a resident of the building on the other side of the wall and had tagged the address of his building. He told officers he was trying to enhance the area, and did not know that the wall was owned by Northeastern. He also did not have permission from his building manager for the graffiti. The 21-year-old student will be referred to OSCCR. ‘ 10 p.m. ‘ A 19-year-old student reported his bicycle missing from a fence outside Speare Hall. He believes he locked it with a U-shaped lock, however the lock was left on the fence.
