Brookline, Mass. is a town in the greater Boston area best known for being the birthplace of John F. Kennedy in 1917. Brookline has a population of roughly 59,000 and is considered a cultural hub for Boston’s Jewish community. Additionally, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is headquartered here.
Perhaps the most popular spot in Brookline is Coolidge Corner, but the town is also noted for The Country Club, the first private outdoor activities club in the United States, and St. Aidan’s Church, where John F. Kennedy was baptized. While the church is on the National Register of Historic Places, St. Aiden’s has been converted into public housing. Historically, Brookline has been the home of many notable people including being the birthplace of Barbara Walters, and the childhood home of Conan O’Brien, Theo Epstein and Robert Kraft. Currently, Red Sox owner John Henry lives in Brookline and James Taylor owns a residence as well. Brookline was ranked as CNN’s 87th best place to live in 2008.
