A 20-year-old man was injured and transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center last Thursday after being hit by a Northeastern student near Parker Street.
The accident occurred around 8 p.m., said Officer John Boyle, spokesman for the Boston Police Department.
“The victim reported he reached the intersection and failed to see a motor vehicle proceeding through the intersection,” Boyle said. The victim turned and cut in front of the vehicle, Boyle said, causing the driver to hit him. The victim was taken to Beth Israel with a non-life threatening injury to his shoulder, Boyle said.
Smith Anderson, president of the Resident Student Association, was in the area at the time of the accident and was the first one to call police.
“I heard the accident take place and I walked up and the guy was off of his bike,” Anderson said. He called Northeastern police, who were the first to respond. Anderson said it appeared the victim may have injured his collarbone.
“He didn’t look too bad, he was conscious and talking,” Anderson said.
Boyle said the driver, who refused to provide his name, would most likely not be criminally charged because the victim admitted he cut in front of the vehicle.
