Crime Log Entry of the Week Monday, March 26 5 p.m. An anonymous caller reported two males in the same stall in a men’s bathroom in the Mugar Life Sciences Building. Northeastern Police Department (NUPD) officers responded and discovered two local high school students in the same stall. They were not engaging in any inappropriate behavior at the time, but were told to leave campus.

Monday, March 26 9:30 a.m. Building facilities staff reported the coin boxes of several vending machines in Ryder Hall were broken into and robbed sometime over the weekend. 10:30 a.m. A 24-year-old male student reported his wallet was stolen from his university-leased apartment at 132 Hemenway St. over spring break. There was no sign of forced entry, but the fire escape window was unlocked. 1:30 p.m. A resident assistant (RA) doing scheduled, announced room inspections discovered a marijuana pipe in the common area of an apartment on the fourth floor of Burstein Hall. The apartment is occupied by three 20-year-old female students, none of whom were home at the time. 3 p.m. An 18-year-old male student reported leaving his iPod unattended on the second floor of Ryder Hall for half an hour March 23. When he returned it was gone. Tuesday, March 27 4 p.m. A 26-year-old male student reported that March 22 at 1:30 a.m. a bouncer at a restaurant and club in downtown Boston had assaulted him. He reported it to the Boston Police Department (BPD) who arrested the bouncer. The student informed the Northeastern University Police Department (NUPD) because he had seen the bouncer on campus, and was concerned he would face retaliation. NUPD contacted BPD and learned the alleged assailant is an alumnus who currently works for the university. NUPD has informed the department where he works of the situation. 10 p.m. An RA smelled marijuana from a fifth-floor suite in Kennedy Hall. NUPD responded and discovered a group of students in the apartment. The occupants denied they had been smoking, but the next day three of them contacted the officer and admitted they had been smoking in a bathroom. They wanted to make it clear that the other students had not been smoking. 11:30 p.m. An NUPD officer on The Fenway noticed a small group of people in the park across from Melvin Hall. They seemed to be passing a pipe around the group. The officer approached and discovered two male students, 18 and 19 years old, and their two female visitors, 17 and 18 years old. The 18-year-old student produced a pipe, a bag of marijuana and a forged out-of-state license. The students will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR). The two girls were told to leave campus. Thursday, March 29 Noon A staff member reported that sometime during the week a new computer still in the box valued at $2,000 was stolen from an unlocked conference room on the first floor of the Mugar Life Sciences Center. 3 p.m. A 22-year-old male student reported being assaulted by another 22-year-old male student about a year ago, but hadn’t reported it at the time. Having read in The News last week that same student had been arrested recently, he decided to report it. NUPD is investigating. 9:30 p.m. Students reported coming upon an intoxicated 21-year-old female student in a West Village G hallway. She was brought back to her room where her friends called NUPD to report she was ill and she was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by police cruiser. She admitted to having been at a bar and drinking eight beers while on prescription medication. Friday, March 30 3:30 a.m. NUPD was called to Forsyth Street by a cab driver reporting two students had evaded their cab fare. The students had told the cab driver they didn’t have any money and were going inside White Hall to get some, but they never returned. NUPD identified them using the video cameras and access control system in the building. A 19-year-old male resident of White Hall admitted to evading the fare, and handed over a money order for double the original fare. The driver can still press criminal charges if he wishes. The student will be reported to OSCCR. 8:30 a.m. A residence hall staff member in White Hall discovered someone had emptied a portable fire extinguisher in one of the stairwells overnight, leaving it empty on the stairs. 2 p.m. A student organization which was selling candy in the Snell Library Quad as a fund-raiser when two young kids ran up to the table, grabbed about 10 bags of candy and ran off. 6 p.m. An 18-year-old male student reported $20 missing from his Smith Hall apartment. He was at the Marino Center from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and believes he may have left his door unlocked. His roommate also had several guests over during that time period. The roommate has been interviewed and provided the names of his guests, but denies knowing anything about the money. 8 p.m. A male part-time student was using Cabot Physical Education Center and reported finding his locker forced open and $40 missing from his wallet. 8:30 p.m. An NUPD officer saw a 24-year-old student leave Huntington Liquors and give a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag to a 20-year-old female student. A bottle of vodka was confiscated and both students will be reported to OSCCR. The male will be summonsed to court for procuring alcohol for a minor. 9 p.m. An NUPD officer saw three males in the West Village Quad carrying an open gym bag, which had two visible 30-packs of beer inside. The beer was confiscated from a student and his two guests, all under 21. They will be reported to OSCCR. 11:30 p.m. An officer saw a student walking through Columbus parking lot and recognized him as someone with a previous alcohol violation. The officer confiscated eight beers from his backpack. He will be reported to OSCCR.

Saturday, March 31 1:30 a.m. An NUPD officer saw several students coming out of an alley between Dockser Hall and the Knowles Center. As one of them saw the officer he tossed a bottle back into the alley. The officers stopped him and confiscated a backpack in the alley containing vodka and beer. The 18-year-old student denied it was his backpack, but the bottle he threw was the same kind of beer as was in the backpack. He will be reported to OSCCR. 1 p.m. A visitor parked in the West Village parking garage and returned to his car after a meeting to find a window broken and his backpack missing. The backpack contained his wallet and cell phone. Sunday, April 1 2:30 a.m. Students from Loftman Hall reported a 19-year-old female student intoxicated on the second floor She had been signed in by a resident, who recognized her as a friend of someone else in the building. She was found intoxicated wandering the halls, and was brought to her friend’s room. She was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center by ambulance. She was too intoxicated to tell NUPD where she had been. She will be reported to OSCCR. 4 a.m. A 22-year-old female student reported that at about 1 a.m. she left a friend’s apartment on the other side of The Fenway when a man wearing a mask grabbed her bag, and ran off. She was walking on Ipswich Street near Fenway Park and went to her friend’s apartment and called NUPD for a safety escort. The bag contained her camera, cell phone, credit cards and $10.

An NUPD officer noticed a taxi on Columbus Avenue across from Davenport Commons, when a man got out and ran toward Carter Park. The man tried to jump the fence, but fell as the taxi driver got out of his cab to pursue the male. An officer identified him as 23-year-old student Casey Stengel and offered him assistance due to his heavy intoxication, but he became violent toward the officer. The officer called for an ambulance, but the student was uncooperative with EMTs, threatening them and flailing his arms. NUPD arrested him for disorderly conduct. When the cab driver saw how violent he was, he left without collecting his $5 fare. The student will be reported to OSCCR. 4 p.m. An alumnus and a student were both using the Cabot Physical Education Center swimming pool between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. They returned to their lockers to find them broken into. One locker was missing $47, while the other had a credit card and $6 stolen.
