The holiday season arrived early Sept. 20 with the 2024 Jellycat holiday collection launch party at Tiny Hanger, a children’s boutique in Coolidge Corner. Although the store’s target demographic is young families, the store mainly welcomed a crowd of young adults, particularly college students, who are a key part of Jellycat’s loyal fanbase.
Fans of the soft toy brand were ecstatic about the collection of new and familiar characters now sporting in holiday-themed attire. From new variants of “Bashful Bunny” to a series of gingerbread “Amuseables,” returning fans could add to their collections while newcomers marveled at the whimsical designs. During the three-hour event, customers had the opportunity to meet seasonal Jellycats for the first time, creating a festive atmosphere of excitement and shared appreciation for the beloved brand.
Now in its 25th year of operation, the Jellycat brand is touring the world to celebrate its work. Earlier this year, the Institute of Contemporary Art hosted an anniversary party that drew hundreds of fans. With the rising interest from a young adult audience, Tiny Hanger owner Lucia Berman reflected on the growing fandom.
“Following the 2020 pandemic, college students especially have found comfort in them,” she said, adding “each one has so much personality.” With hundreds of different options to pick from, anybody can find a Jellycat that fits their own aesthetic.
During the festive event, one thing was clear — fans were overjoyed by the mere sight of the holiday Jellycats.
