B.GOOD, which closed permanently Oct. 18, will be replaced by Anna’s Taqueria, according to a “coming soon” sign hanging at the former restaurant space.
According to The Boston Globe, co-founder of B.GOOD Anthony Ackil said that Streetlight Ventures, which owns both B.GOOD and Anna’s Taqueria, closed three B.GOOD locations in recent months. Two of those spaces, including Northeastern’s, will be turned into an Anna’s Taqueria because the brand is “ready to grow,” Ackil told The Globe.
Ackil also said current employees at Northeastern’s B.GOOD location were offered positions at other Streetlight companies. The new Anna’s Taqueria is expected to open early next year, The Globe reported.
Emilija Bajic, a third-year international affairs major, thought a healthier option could’ve replaced B.Good.
“We have enough Mexican food in the area, and maybe they could have chosen something healthier,” Bajic said. Anna’s Taqueria joins Mamacita Mexican Comida, El Jefe’s Taqueria and Amelia’s Taqueria, all situated on Huntington Avenue.
B.GOOD’s about page outlines goals of “putting [its] own healthy twist on traditional dishes” and “farm-fresh ingredients that leave you feeling good inside and out,” but Anna’s Taqueria doesn’t include those priorities on its about page.
Frank Dankowski Healey, a second-year computer science major, also commented on the growing number of Mexican spots in the area.
“I mean, it’s like the eighth Mexican place around Northeastern. I guess it could make the line at El Jefe’s shorter, which would be nice,” he said.
But Healey also said the new Anna’s location in such close proximity to Marino Recreation Center would be a nice addition.
“I never really went to B.GOOD, but I feel like Anna’s might be a better place to grub after a workout,” he said.
