At least three Northeastern students were arrested early Saturday morning at parties in Mission Hill, according to information released by the Boston Police, bringing the total number of Northeastern students arrested on Mission Hill this year to at least 15.
Eddie Chrispin, a spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said five students were charged with disturbing the peace this weekend. Three of these people were listed in the Northeastern directory as students: Mitchell Kerensky, Eric Sheets and Sean Twomey.
Police said all three were arrested at parties in their own apartments: Kerensky on Cherokee Street, and roommates Twomey and Sheets on Saint Alphonsus Street.
Kerensky said police broke up his party at about 1 a.m., and that Jeff Doggett, director of Government Relations and Community Affairs at Northeastern, and Boston City Councilor Mike Ross were with Boston Police.
Kerensky was told by officers that his party could be heard from blocks away, despite Kerensky’s efforts to keep the noise level down throughout the night.
“There were upward of 40 people here,” he said. “We really didn’t think it was that loud.”
He said he was arrested and held in a cell until 4:30 a.m., when two of his roommates paid his bail.
While Kerensky said there was a “healthy mix” of students from different colleges at the party, he said most people in attendance were from Northeastern.
“Everyone at the party from Northeastern had their NU ID’s taken,” he said.
Kerensky said he expects to hear from the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution in the next few days. He is also scheduled to appear at Roxbury District Court on Monday.
Interim university spokesperson Jim Chiavelli said he was disappointed by the conduct of the students.
“If these charges were to be true, it’s just extremely disappointing; not just for the neighborhood, but for the thousands of students out there doing good,” he said.
Sheets declined to comment for the story before speaking to his lawyer.
Twomey could not be contacted as of press time.
