Stetson East will be the only dining hall open to students over the summer as the United Table at International Village undergoes renovations, the university confirmed in an email to The Huntington News.
The university also said that the Pure Eats section of Stetson Eats, which serves food prepared without the top nine allergens and places gluten in a separate, contained environment, is being remodeled until June. In addition, foods offered for students with religious dietary restrictions that were previously served at International Village, or IV, are available at Stetson East and The Market at Curry Student Center.
To compensate for the closure of Pure Eats, the Homestyle station at Stetson East is now offering allergen-friendly menu options, and the Global Eats station is continuing to offer vegan and vegetarian options.
In place of the kosher station at United Table, kosher meals can be purchased at The Market and are available “upon request” at The Eatery. Both locations will accept a meal swipe for a kosher meal. The university also told The News that there are various certified halal meats offered at The Eatery.
“At this time, all grilled chicken and chicken thighs served in this location are certified Halal, and sliced turkey at the Deli station is also certified Halal unless otherwise noted,” the university spokesperson said.
The university said students with allergies or other dietary restrictions should speak with a manager, chef or “ingredient expert” if they have specific questions, all of which are “FARE Check allergen-trained” — an education program for kitchen workers to help keep food-allergic individuals safe.

The News previously reported on several students’ concerns over the lack of variety of allergy-friendly and religious dietary food options at university dining halls, as well as assurance in allergy cross-contamination at The Eatery.
While the Delicious Without station at United Table prepares food in a separate kitchen, the university stated that Pure Eats uses “designated cooking utensils in a shared kitchen.” And with United Table and the Social House at Stetson West closed for the summer, options are now more limited for students.
