Northeastern police arrested a sex offender April 29 after the individual allegedly hid in the women’s bathroom in the Stetson East dining hall and assaulted officers, Boston 25 News reported.
Boston 25 cited a statement from Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden, who said that 29-year-old Brandon Awogboro was arraigned Thursday in Boston Municipal Court in Roxbury on charges of trespassing, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Around 6:26 p.m., the Northeastern University Police Department, or NUPD, responded to a tripped alarm at Stetson East. Security footage and interviews with dining hall employees led NUPD to the suspect on Huntington Avenue, according to Boston 25.
Dining hall workers told NUPD that Awogboro stayed inside the women’s bathroom for over an hour before exiting through an emergency exit door, which tripped the alarm. One dining hall worker said he was peering at her under the stall divider.

The university did not respond to The News’ questions about how Awogboro was able to access Stetson East. At the time of his arrest, Awogboro was wearing a GPS device with an exclusionary zone that included Northeastern’s campus.
“On Wednesday evening, NUPD received a call about an individual not affiliated with Northeastern in the restroom of a campus building. Using surveillance footage, NUPD quickly located and apprehended the suspect, who is now being prosecuted by the District Attorney’s office,” Vice President for Communications Renata Nyul wrote in an email to The Huntington News.
When officers found Awogboro, he “sprinted directly” into an officer, Boston 25 reported. When the officer tried to subdue him, Awogboro attempted to kick and bite the officer. According to the Suffolk County district attorney, no officers were injured.
According to the state’s Sex Offender Registry Board, Awogboro is a Level 2 sex offender, which is classified as someone who poses a “moderate degree of danger to the public” and has a moderate risk of re-offending.
Awogboro is on probation for a breaking and entering and assault and battery charge from 2024, for which he served 1.5 years in the House of Correction. He was convicted of “indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or older” in 2021, according to the registry.
Judge David Poole originally set Awogboro’s bail at $500, but later revoked it due to a pending “assault and battery charge on a family or household member and ordered that he be monitored by GPS,” according to a WCVB report.
Awogboro is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial hearing May 26.
