This semester, the Northeastern School of Architecture announced the addition of a third major to join architecture and urban studies in the undergraduate curriculum. Architectural studies, housed in the College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD), allows students to have greater flexibility with classes and pursue concentrations in one of three degree tracks: sustainability, design and culture and real estate development. Incoming freshmen and students entering their sophomore year had the choice of opting into the major.

The East Boston Public Library (BPL) has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification in keeping with the city’s commitment toward boosting sustainability and augmenting environmental eco-friendliness.
With a win over the Drexel Dragons last Sunday, the Northeastern field hockey team extended its winning streak to 11 games, the most they’ve won in a row since 2005. The win also moved the Huskies to 2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, the first time they’ve won their first two games of conference play in the last nine years. The Dragons scored the first goal 21:55 into the first half, after senior midfielder Christina Conrad was able to put it in the net after gaining control of a loose ball.
Mass. public schools have seen a significant drop in ratings recently. The ratings, which came out in conjunction with the recent Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) scores, show a negative trend. According to this year’s MCAS data, only 414 schools secured a Level 1 rating, compared to 510 schools in 2012. Specifically in Boston, seven fewer schools are rated Level 1 this year than last year.
North America’s most substantial exhibition of Goya’s work in 25 years will be unveiled by the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and on display from Oct. 12 to Jan. 15. “Goya: Order and Disorder” is comprised of 170 drawings, prints and paintings from the MFA’s collection, along with loans from other museums and private collectors, some of which have never entered the United States.
With wins over Hofstra University and no. 8 Boston College (BC) under its belt, the Northeastern field hockey team continued its run of utter dominance this week, stretching its longest winning streak since 2005 to 10 games.
Northeastern now boasts the only science technology engineering and math (STEM) programthe country after recieving the First in the World grant from the Department of Education (DoE). Last week, Northeastern’s Lowell Institute School and College of Professional Studies was recognized as one of 24 recipients of the First in the World Grant from DoE, holding the third largest award in the grant program.
