Peyton Manning can’t beat Father Time

Alright Peyton Manning, I think it’s finally time to hang up the cleats. Put away that helmet that is clearly way too tight, before the big, red mark on your forehead becomes permanent. We know you want to win another Super Bowl, but nobody beats Father Time and, right now, you are clearly struggling to do the things you used to be able to.

Women’s hockey struggles over winter break

Women’s basketball looks to end six game skid

Holiday season did not treat the Northeastern (3-11) women’s basketball team kindly, nor did the New Year, as the Huskies dropped their fifth straight game Sunday afternoon. The Huskies fell to 3-11 on the season and 0-4 in conference play after a 54-48 loss to the University of Delaware (6-9).

Northeastern’s track and field team started the season with seven first place finishes at the Dec. 6 Boston University (BU) season opener. One week later, NU hosted the sixth annual Jay Carisella Invitational and finished first overall.

In a three-team meet at Drexel, Northeastern beat the host but fell to Delaware.

The Northeastern women’s swimming and diving team travelled to Philadelphia, Pa. last weekend to go head to head with Colonial Athletic Association rivals: the University of Delaware and Drexel University.

While most of Northeastern’s students enjoyed a quiet winter break away from school, the NU men’s basketball team was busy putting together an impressive nine-game stretch that spanned December and January. Over the past nine contests, the Huskies finished with a 6-3 record.

The Northeastern men’s hockey team rallied after a Nov. 21 loss at Merrimack College in North Andover to beat the Warriors at home the following day and upset No. 3 University of Minnesota a week later. The two-game win streak was halted Wednesday with a loss to Providence College.

Maybe this is how they will finally turn things around. With its win over No. 3 University of Minnesota on Saturday, the Northeastern men’s hockey team had its first winning streak of the season. It was short-lived as Providence snapped the streak on Wednesday in the first of two games against the Huskies. The big question that faces Head Coach Jim Madigan and his team is if they can find the means to bounce back from defeat and play the way fans know they are capable of as the team gets into the heart of this season’s tough schedule.
