Obituary: Hall of Fame coach Fern Flaman, at 85

Fern Flaman, a hockey Hall of Famer and the longest tenured Northeastern men’s hockey head coach, died Friday night. He was 85. As head coach of the Huskies between 1970 and 1989, Mr. Flaman amassed a record of 255–301–23 and brought four Beanpot championships to Huntington Avenue.

The Northeastern men’s hockey team will no longer be the only Huskies playing in Hockey East. The University of Connecticut officially announced on June 29 that it will move from the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) to the Hockey East Association. Eight of the last 20 NCAA champions have come from Hockey East.
