NU hands Tigers 27th loss

The men’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak Tuesday by giving the then-1-26 Towson University Tigers a Valentine’s Day they are sure to remember with a 70-51 blowout in Boston.

Harvard hands Huskies fourth place Beanpot finish

Less than a week after the women’s hockey team brought home its first Beanpot title since 1998, the men’s hockey team finished in fourth place in tournament after losing to Harvard University, 3-2, tonight at TD Garden.

The men’s basketball team needed a win at William & Mary Saturday night to swing momentum back into their direction, but as they concluded their three game road trip. A one-sided blowout by the Tribe handed the Huskies their fourth straight loss and a road sweep, losing the contest by 25 points, 79-54.

Women’s hockey wins 15th Beanpot title

For the first time in 14 years, the Northeastern Huskies took home the Beanpot title after defeating Boston University 4-3 in overtime. The scoring lead changed sides on multiple occasions and sent the game into overtime, but in the end it was the duo of freshman forward Kendall Coyne and junior forward Casey Pickett who clutched the win for the Huskies, 4-3.

Men’s hoops on three-game losing streak

Coming off of two straight losses, the men’s basketball team needed a win at Georgia State University (GSU) to bring its season record to .500. Despite a hard-fought second half for the Huskies, they fell just short of a victory last night, losing 62-59.

NU competes at Battle of Beantown

The Northeastern men’s track and field team finished second at Battle of the Beantown, the track and field Beanpot, last Friday at the Gordon Indoor Track in Cambridge. The women’s team came in fourth.

Men’s hockey falls to BC in Beanpot

United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) No. 5 Boston College quickly eliminated any thought of revenge for the Huskies, winning handily, 7-1, at TD Garden Monday night. Northeastern remains without a championship in the tournament since 1988. Northeastern and BC have met in 41 Beanpot games, and with this year’s loss, the Huskies fall to 9-32 overall.

It’s clear to anyone who saw the Beanpot game that this team seemed to feel like it was missing something. They took too many chances and tried to make too much happen to convince fans they have was clicking on all cylinders.
