The College of Arts, Media and Design is beginning the search for a new dean after the college’s founding dean, Xavier Costa, left the university in Spring 2014 for unknown reasons after four years as dean in the position. Currently Bruce Ronkin, a professor of music at CAMD, is the acting interim dean.
As members of the Northeastern community, it is easy to see that there are more important areas for improvement than creating bigger targets for potential donations by consolidating schools.

In its latest list of America’s top overall colleges, Forbes.com ranked Northeastern 411, one spot behind the University of Kentucky and one ahead of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Four-year graduation rates are one factor in determining a school’s position on the list, but Northeastern is traditionally a five-year school. In the latest ranking, the university’s four-year graduation rate is zero percent.
The deans of the three newly-formed colleges met Jan. 27 in Curry Student Center’s McLeod Suites to meet students and discuss concerns and new ideas for the future of their new institutions, all saying they were optimistic toward programs and co-ops offered through the university.
