Crime Log: March 31-April 6

Entry of the week: Saturday, March 29, 12:03 a.m.

A student reported men burning jerseys in the alleyway behind 27 Symphony Rd. Officers responded and spoke to the subject, who was disgruntled over a sports team draft. No fire or smoke was in the area upon the officers’ arrival.

Monday, March 31

10:36 a.m.

The Headmaster of Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK) notified the Northeastern Public Safety Division (NUPD) that one of their students was being defiant and disruptive. She stated that the teacher involved had asked the student to leave the room, and the student was refusing. Officers determined that the student had been asked to move her seat but had refused because she was sitting next to her friend. The student went home for the day.

Tuesday, April 1

 6:39 p.m.

A civil protest was staged between Cabot Center and Richards Hall. The crowd numbered approximately 90, and was protesting for pro-Palestinian causes.

Wednesday, April 2

1:55 p.m.

An officer reported witnessing a man steal a bike from the bike racks at International Village (IV). Justin Kady, who is not affiliated with Northeastern, was banned from all Northeastern property and signed a trespass waiver. Kady will be summonsed to court for larceny.

5:48 p.m.

A student reported his laptop was stolen from the locker room at Cabot Center between 12:30 and 3 p.m.

Thursday, April 3

12:18 p.m.

An officer reported five people sitting on the benches by IV smoking something which was being passed around. Another officer responded and reported the high school students were not smoking anything upon officer arrival. After the subjects had been sent on their way, a tin grinder was found hidden under the bench.

3:04 p.m.

A student’s laundry was stolen from West Village H’s 16th floor laundry room around 10:30 a.m.

4:37 p.m.

Staff in Peet’s Coffee reported they believed a man was using drugs in their bathroom, as he dropped several hypodermic needles while exiting the building. Officers responded and found several needles on the restroom floor, as well as three small bags, each containing a white powdery substance.

5:48 p.m.

A student reported her backpack was stolen from outside Willis Hall earlier that afternoon between 5:10 and 5:30 p.m. while left unattended.

10:48 p.m.

A student reported he was approached by a man wearing a black jacket in front of the Ruggles Station steps. The man asked for money, and appeared to be in possession of a firearm. Officers responded and stopped a suspect matching the description, who did not have a firearm, but did have a knife. The knife was confiscated.

Friday, April 4

8:35 p.m.

Officers stopped a disorderly student who was running onto Huntington Avenue, stopping traffic and running back to the sidewalk, nearly causing several collisions.

Saturday, April 5

5:54 p.m. and 6:24 p.m.

Officers confiscated under an ounce of marijuana from a student at Springfest.

6:47 p.m.

An officer requested emergency medical services to transport a drunk student to the hospital from Springfest.

7:07 p.m.

An officer stopped a drunk man outside of Springfest. The man was denied entry.

Sunday, April 6

6:23 a.m.

An intoxicated student was reported yelling at the proctor in Speare Hall. Officers spoke to the student, who admitted to drinking earlier that night, and stated he was upset over the proctor sleeping.

7:04 p.m.

A student reported her wallet went missing between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on April 4. The wallet was left unattended at the proctor’s station in West Village A.
