The Marino Recreation Center is the three-floor recreational facility available to northeastern students and faculty at Northeastern University. The first floor includes locker rooms and a spin studio, as well as internal access to burrito chain Boloco, Au Bon Pain and Wollaston’s Market. Marino is located at the corner of Huntington Ave. and Forsyth Street. The second floor offers cardiovascular machines such as stair steppers, stationary bicycles, treadmills and ellipticals, as well as a small selection of free weights, a rock climbing wall and basketball, volleyball, badminton, roller hockey and futsal courts. The second floor also houses group exercise rooms. The third and top floor consists of a weight room with 42 free weight stations, 40 weight machines and resistance training, as well as three-lane suspended track.
Marino is a part of Northeastern University Campus Recreation. Campus Recreation offers personal training, group fitness classes, intramurals, club sports and a fitness and health series. They also offer non-credit instructional classes for students to explore various fitness mediums including martial arts, dance, dual and individual sports, meditation and more. A gift in the early 1990s from business pioneer and alumnus Roger Marino funded the Marino Recreation Center. It opened in 1996.
