President Richard Freeland is adjusting to the idea of stepping out of the spotlight to make way for a new president – of Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU).
On Aug. 4, President Freeland’s wife, Elsa Nunez, will assume the presidency of ECSU. Just 11 days later, Freeland will formally step down from the Northeastern presidency, making way for his successor, Joseph Aoun. With this transition on the horizon, Freeland said he is apprehensive, but feeling ready to step into the role of presidential spouse.
“Not only is she moving into my role, but I’m moving into hers,” Freeland said.
