To the single and free, it’s great to be on the prowl in Boston this year.
Boston came in at No. 7 with New York City following at No. 8 for the best US cities for singles in 2008, a poll published in July by Forbes.com.
In 2007, Boston placed in the 11th spot, while New York was No. 2
The list, compiled by Forbes, takes into consideration a city’s “coolness,” cost of living alone, culture, online dating, job growth, nightlife and number of singles in each city.
New York beat Boston on “coolness” and nightlife, but lost on online dating and job growth, according to the website.
The main cause for New York’s dramatic shift in placement this year was the cost of living, coming in last at No. 40, while Boston came in at No. 33, according to the website.
