A former governor of Arizona, Napolitano was the first female Secretary of Homeland Security. She has led many federal and local organizations that support children and school teachers, etc. Now, as the 20th president of the UC colleges, Napolitano oversees 10 campuses and more than 234,000 students, according to the UC Office of the President’s website. “[Napolitano’s] commitment to making an impact on society through public service is exemplary of the accomplished, fulfilled life we aspire for all Northeastern graduates to achieve,” Aoun said on the university’s website. This will not be Napolitano’s first time on Northeastern’s campus. In November 2012, she visited Northeastern’s Neal F.
