SGA lists dining problems

Timmons, who has served as director for 18 years, started her presentation by talking about the newest of form of Northeastern dining: The food truck, otherwise known as the The Hungry, Hungry Husky. The truck parks in the Snell Library Quad Monday through Friday for lunch and for late-night meals Thursday through Saturday.

The US Army’s Cadet Command awarded Northeastern’s Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program the MacArthur Award this week. The award is based on the ideals of “duty, honor and country,” as well as the cadets’ achievements, performance and retention rate. The Army gave the award to eight schools, and Northeastern was recognized as the best of the second brigade, which includes the 41 senior Army ROTC programs in the Northeast.

Y project still stalled

Even as Northeastern’s Department of Housing and Residential Life this week put hundreds of students on a wait list for housing next year, construction has yet to begin on a dormitory behind the YMCA, which was set to begin in June 2011.

Athletic center opens

Knockout group protests Barstool party

The protest comes after a week of intense debate between members of the Northeastern group Knockout Barstool, and supporters of Portnoy’s blog, which is targeted to college-aged men and often features photos of scantily clad women. The protesters have taken an issue with jokes published on the website about rape.

UPDATED: RAs advised to keep students in line during Super Bowl

An update on popular Boston news blog Universal Hub last night raised concerns around the city, quoting an email sent to students by a university official as saying “If you do choose to go outside during or after the Superbowl, know that you will likely be questioned and directed to go somewhere indoors as quickly as possible. If you refuse, you are subject to immediate arrest.”

Provost seeks student input

Members of the Student Government Association (SGA) shared various grievances with Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Bruce Ronkin during Monday’s Senate meeting, but did not receive any specific details as to when those problems will be solved.

Northeastern Provost Stephen Director announced Friday that Hugh Courtney will serve as dean of the College of Business Administration starting in July. Courtney was vice dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Future housing plans unclear

Months before Northeastern will begin requiring the sophomore class to live on campus, university officials were unclear about specific plans to create more on-campus housing.

Barstool Sports party sparks controversy

Knockout’s main criticism of Barstool is its objectification of women and general lack of sensitivity toward sexual abuse. Members of Knockout Barstool say they’ve been harassed on the Barstool Sports website, Facebook, and on their own Tumblr.
