Terminally ill alumnus donates to local arts

Then in 2014, nine years after retiring from his lab, he was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer. This is when Fulton, a 1966 Northeastern University graduate school alumnus, became serious about donating his money to the arts. He will donate $1 million each to Boston Ballet and Greater Boston Stage Company, his local theatre, upon his death. Twenty-nine other Boston organizations, including Northeastern, will receive smaller donations totaling  approximately $4 million.

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey sued President Donald J. Trump’s administration Oct. 6 after Trump signed an executive order rolling back a health care provision which mandated that employers provide birth control in their employees’ insurance packages.

Webster said although her team avoids assigning themes to each event, as they prepared with the speakers, she realized a theme emerged anyway — breaking the rules. Each speaker addressed that idea in a different way, and she challenged the audience to find the rule-breaking aspects of each one.

District Hall brings innovators to HUBweek

The event was part of the Venture Cafe Foundation’s Cafe Night series, which brings entrepreneurs  together to network and develop professional relationships. This particular cafe night takes place four times a year in District Hall, a not-for-profit center and free public workspace.

Mayor announces affordable homeshare program for students, homeowners

As the price to purchase and rent in Boston and surrounding neighborhoods skyrockets, Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh is working to combat the rise in unaffordable housing. As part of his plan, Walsh announced the Intergenerational Homeshare Pilot, a program to place grad students in low-cost housing by allowing them to rent one room in the houses of older homeowners.
