Crime Log: January 20 – January 26

January 30, 2014
Entry of the week: Thursday, Jan. 23, 5:31 p.m. A staff member called to report a purple backpack containing a Windows laptop, a wallet and other personal items was stolen from the Sacred Space in Ell Hall. The victim stated she was meditating for about 15 minutes and when she was finished, the bag was gone. The bag was about 15 feet from her, and she did not see or hear anyone else in the area.

Entry of the week: Thursday, Jan. 16, 10:53 a.m. A student reported someone took her underwear from the laundry room in West Village H. He tied them together in knots and wrote inappropriate messages on them.

Entry of the week: Saturday, Jan. 11, 10:58 p.m. An RA in White Hall reported someone wrote “[Expletive] the Police” on a smoke free sign.

Crime Log: December 22 – January 5

January 9, 2014
Entry of the Week: Dec. 28, Saturday, 2:12 a.m. Boston Police Department (BPD) reported a man, who was wearing a blue sweatshirt and was covered in blood, had snatched a purse from a woman and was heading from Huntington Avenue towards Forsyth Street. Northeastern officers quickly found the man inside Ruggles Station’s upper busway and took him into custody after he had been identified by the owner of the purse.

Entry of the week: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 9:06 a.m. A staff member reported an unknown person sent fraudulent purchase orders worth several thousand dollars to companies all around the country impersonating him and using Northeastern’s financial information with a ship-to address in Billerica. The NUPD special services unit is investigating in coordination with Billerica Police and the FBI.

Entry of the week: Thursday, Nov. 14, 10:29 a.m. A student reported she had been receiving threatening phone calls from a man identifying himself as a State Police trooper. The man was requesting personal information from her. The student stated she filed a report in September when she received a similar call, during which the caller stated he was from customs and immigration services.

Crime Log: November 4 – November 11

Entry of the week: Wednesday, Nov. 6, 3:02 p.m. A student reported that on Sunday, he was at Tavern in the Square in Allston, when he was engaged in conversation with another man. The student said the man told him he was also a student, and asked if the student could cash a check for $460 because banks were closed at that time of night. The student gave the man $300 and the man gave him the check. When the student attempted to cash the check at Bank of America, he was informed that the check was fake. The student was also advised to file a report with the Boston Police Department (BPD).

Crime Log: October 28 – November 3

November 6, 2013
Entry of the week: Friday, Nov. 1, 1:26 a.m. A student reported he was approached at the rear entrance to Stetson East by a man who shouted “Yo,” and then punched him in the face when he turned around. The suspect was described to be wearing a fake beard and all camouflage. The victim was not in need of medical attention.

Entry of the week: Sunday, Oct. 27, 4:32 p.m. A student reported a man stole his cell phone from the Clemente Park football field, jumped into the water and began to swim away. Boston Police responded to the same call and assumed jurisdiction.

Crime Log: October 14 – October 20

Entry of the week: Saturday, Oct. 19, 1:06 p.m. University Health and Counseling Services staff reported a student waiting in the lobby to file a report on fraud. An officer reported the student’s mother in China was scammed for $12,000 after a friend sent the mother a video from the student stating she was her daughter and she needed the money for a course at Harvard University.

Crime Log: October 7 – October 14

October 17, 2013
Entry of the Week: Saturday, October 12th, 2:23 a.m. A student reported a drunk man running and kicking doors in the fourth floor hallway of Davenport Commons B. Officers reported a door kicked in with the lock on the floor. The student was in the room sleeping. The student reported he was waiting for a resident of the apartment. Officers determined that no such resident lived in the apartment, and the student admitted to consuming four shots of rum at a party somewhere in the building. He was checked by EMS and cleared, then taken into custody for malicious destruction. A work order was placed for the shattered door and broken lock. The female resident returned and determined nothing was missing from the apartment, and was then escorted to a friend’s apartment.

Crime Log: September 30 – October 6

October 10, 2013
Entry of the week: Saturday, October 5, 12:03 a.m. A resident reported there was a loud party on the first two floors of 9 Symphony Rd. that was spilling out onto the street. Officers reported there was a large party in the basement as well as the first floor and a large group of about 175 to 200 people exiting the rear of the building.
