Op-ed: UNICEF is more than just a name

Nidhi Addanki January 31, 2018
UNICEF at Northeastern may be a branch of the larger UNICEF organization, but we are anything but small. Our dedication to making our organization more recognized on campus pushes us to continue thinking of innovative ideas.

Op-Ed: Women’s March excludes transgender community

January 24, 2018
The women's march has become a powerful movement. Increasingly, those involved in the movement need to prioritize inclusivity and education on what feminism actually means.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Op-ed: A crown prince is not a revolutionary

January 18, 2018
The New York Times ran an op-ed on its front page titled “Saudi Arabia’s Arab Spring, at Last,” in which Thomas Friedman likened bin Salman’s ascension to the revolutionary waves of the Arab Spring. Aside from being offensive to the millions who risked their lives during those popular uprisings, this comparison is flat-out wrong. He has shown no interest in real reform for Saudi Arabia.

All students deserve to feel safe and comfortable on campus, but Palestinian students cannot feel safe when the military that occupies the land of their families and loved ones is invited to host a promotional event at their university.

Op-ed: A thank you note to sexual violence survivors

December 7, 2017
Thank you for your courage. Thank you for getting up each day and stepping into the world. Thank you for setting an example for the rest of us. Thank you for facing your fears, for overcoming your fears and for conquering your fears. Would that the rest of us had a fraction of your courage.

Op-ed: Proposed tax reform is bad for Black Americans

November 30, 2017
Many government operatives, foundations, universities and corporate-sector leaders have aligned and seemingly conspired to destroy the progress made by black people over the past 152 years under the guise of tax reform. The proposed Tax Reform Plan will destroy Black America.

Op-ed: We will not be silenced

November 16, 2017
As students arrived to Hillel for the event, other students who were part of the Students for Justice in Palestine, or SJP,  group at Northeastern were protesting the event outside of the building . These individuals do not believe that Israel should exist and defend itself. While they have every right to have an opinion and make their voice heard, they did this in a very disrespectful way.

Op-ed: A thank you from men’s hockey

Our team feeds off your passion for our program, and we are extremely appreciative of all of your support.
Op-ed: Should journalists risk their lives?

Op-ed: Should journalists risk their lives?

November 2, 2017
Recently I sent an email to my journalism professor to get his opinion on a disturbing matter: The fearless Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia had been assassinated by a car bomb in broad daylight.

Op-ed: How you can help fight climate change

October 27, 2017
Sometimes it's hard to know what to do when you hear about the thousands of people affected by climate change. This bill gives you a chance to act locally and support people all over the world.
Op-ed: When my Faith met Birthright

Op-ed: When my Faith met Birthright

October 25, 2017
Going into Birthright, I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Everyone always talks about how much they loved their trip and how awesome it was, calling it life-changing, but no one could ever give me a sound reason why they loved it so much. While the two days of travel weren’t great, I quickly learned that everyone I had talked to about Birthright was right.

Letter to the Editor: Call for clean energy

October 19, 2017
We, as a nation, need to face the facts that relying on fossil fuels is not forever, and that transitioning to renewable energy such as solar is a stable source of eternal energy.
