Letter: Pro-life events make senior anti-NU

April 1, 2010
As a senior ready to graduate in May, my memories of Northeastern have been overwhelmingly positive.

Letter: Sabia offers changes to better SGA

April 1, 2010
Theodore Roosevelt once said, “The man who never makes mistakes is the man who never does anything.” As the contestants of the first Northeastern Student Government “Direct Election,” and as former student representatives that consistently asserted the will of the student body regardless of the consequences, we have done much, and we have made mistakes. Our fear is that the incumbent, Ryan Fox, has not acted decisively to assert the will of the student body.

Letter: Fox boasts experience, achievements

April 1, 2010
Over the past three years through my work in your Student Government Association, I have observed the dedication that Ryan Fox possesses for serving the student body in any way possible. This year as a member of the executive board of the association, I have only seen greater examples of this. Ryan spent many late nights, not only ensuring that your voice was heard in the university budget process but also planning an extensive restructuring process that makes your student government more accessible to you.

Letter: Controversy in SGA election

April 1, 2010
On March 27, I learned that SGA VP for Administration & Public Relations Tim Siclari was engaging in misconduct with the SGA website in an attempt to remove information unfavorable to candidate Amanda Sabia.

Column: Civility uncommon among Huskies

March 25, 2010
I’m sitting at a desk, quietly eating a banana and periodically checking my phone for any new text messages. There’s a girl beside me who is checking her e-mail on her laptop and eating a cup of noodle soup. There’s nothing unusual about the scene, not even the fact that it is set in a classroom amid a lecture. But the normalcy of it doesn’t make it right, and the apparent lack of classroom civility has me feeling awkward and inappropriate.

Letter: SGA advocate speaks out

March 25, 2010

As many of you are aware from last week's Huntington News article, I unfortunately will not be running for Student Government Association (SGA) president. The senate has decided that they will not suspend any more rules or make any “exceptions,” despite the extenuating circumstances. You...

Letter: Abortion dialogue should be balanced

March 25, 2010
During the week of March 15, 2010, Northeastern commenced Respect Life Week. Under the disguise of dialogue, this university has sponsored a political campaign against abortion and the students of this institution who support it.

Letter: University should give lacrosse a chance

March 25, 2010
When college springtime finally rolls around, the warmer weather makes me think of outdoor activities from A to Z and somewhere in that range is L for Lacrosse. After a long winter, the fastest game on two feet heads back to the fields across America for another exciting season.

Editorial: SGA debate loses interest

March 25, 2010
In the Student Government Association (SGA) presidential debate in the West Edition of the Curry Student Center Tuesday night, candidates Ryan Fox and Amanda Sabia talked about positive changes – sometimes drastic ones – they can make for the student body if elected. The Trouble was, only about 25 of more than 15,000 students attended. It's not that no students were around: During the civil debate between the current president of SGA and the vice president of academic affairs, there were people buying dinner from Taco Bell, talking loudly, and ignoring that is one of the few chances students will have to know what the candidates are supporting before the April 1 election on the myNEU portal.

Editorial: Budgetary bliss

March 25, 2010
The Huntington News constantly asks for transparency within the administration. One of the places we actually get is during the yearly budget meeting this Wednesday during activities period at 333 Curry Student Center.

Letter: Accountability: The solution to violence?

March 17, 2010
The recent shooting rampage by a University of Alabama professor has made many people question the credibility of the American criminal justice system. Could this, and other violent situations, have been prevented? An increasing number of systematic failures has led to several violent tragedies in recent times, including the killing of four Washington police officers by Maurice Clemmons last November.

Column: Senior disappointed with her final Springfest lineup

March 17, 2010
I was always a big supporter of the Council for University Programs (CUP). While there have been years I may not have particularly liked the Springfest selection, I always kept my mouth shut.
