Editorial: Late assignments will not be accepted

May 12, 2010
At an academic institution where many of the course syllabi provided to students strictly forbid or penalize late submission of assignments, the university has procrastinated their duty to provide an important document to the communities in which we reside.

Column: Graduating Huskies should keep in touch

April 22, 2010
It was a simple moment. And I’m not sure it might have stood out the way that it had, if it hadn’t happened at the end of my last class, on the final day of the semester. It wasn’t just my last day of classes for the term, or for the year, even— but for my college career.

Editorial: CUP plans a fine fest

April 15, 2010
The Council for University Programs (CUP) has had a shaky past with its annual Springfest concert. Audiences left last year's Jimmy Eat World/Guster show in droves halfway through and, predictably, their ticket purchasing system didn't function correctly. But this year was different.

Editorial: Second term as president, twice the pressure

April 15, 2010
The Student Government Association (SGA) announced Ryan Fox won a second term as president at the SGA meeting last Thursday. He won by 97 votes.

Column: Senior leaves Northeastern on good terms

April 15, 2010
For the past two weeks or so, I've been struggling to find a topic for my last column. I wanted something inspiring, something concrete and something optimistic. Clearly, I was putting way too much thought into it. There is no such thing as a “perfect” column.

Letter: Term ‘reverse racism’ incorrect, hinders progress

April 8, 2010
Reverse racism: This term has slowly appeared in the vocabulary of far too many individuals over the past several years. While the intentions of using the phrase are likely not meant to cause offense, the subsequent usage indeed creates a significant sense of discomfort, at least to me and likely to many others, regardless of their race. There is nothing reverse about racism and discrimination directed towards white Americans. Saying otherwise carries a notion of elitism that has no place in the 21st century.

Column: Soon-to-be graduate seeks, finds perspective

April 8, 2010
I remember the way the plane banked left after taking off. I propped my elbow on the armrest and watched Boston, in its entirety, shrink beneath me. Before the plane finally leveled, heading in the direction of the ocean, I saw Northeastern’s campus sprawled out among the winding city streets below.

Editorial: Northeastern has open shot for victory

April 8, 2010
The men’s basketball team recently received a generous donation of $100,000. The money should be used to update facilities and resign Bill Coen, a great asset to our sports program at Northeastern. The elimination of our football program has weakened Northeastern sport’s fans moral and this can be an excellent opportunity to show that Northeastern is serious about improving sports. Last season, it became evident that Northeastern’s basketball team has a surmountable amount of potential and if the hefty fund awarded to Northeastern is used on them, it will stoke the fire that’s already burning.

Letter: Fox not best candidate for presidency

April 1, 2010
In the past few years I’ve written to the News fairly often, but this is perhaps most important letter I’ll ever write, as it pertains to events that will affect you far beyond my remaining year at Northeastern. I am writing not as a junior, an off-campus student, an SGA executive board member, or as a fraternity man, but as a student representative who has endured storm and strife to make Northeastern better place. I am writing in support of the presidential candidacy of Vice President for Academic Affairs Amanda Sabia.

Editorial: To vote or not to vote: That is your question

April 1, 2010
Voting for Student Government Association (SGA) president opened on myNeu this morning, and when the results are tallied a week from today, we will not only be looking at which candidate won the presidency, but also whether SGA won over the student body.
